The Mess Question, Answered Honestly

Here is the part nobody else will tell you. SilkyStix™ are soft, and soft means the color goes on everything for the first day.

The good news is that it comes off. Hands, tables, wooden floors, plastic, skin - a damp paper towel takes it straight off, because the color is water-based and dissolves rather than smearing in. Clothes go through the wash. One mum put it better than we could: "unlike the ones that claim they're washable, these actually are."

The honest part: keep them off carpet, rugs and leather. Those hold the pigment and we would rather say so now than have you find out. Table, floor, coloring book, kitchen chair - all fine. Living room rug - not the place.

  • My two year old used to color for about five seconds and then wander off. I am not exaggerating. She grabbed one of these, twisted it up herself and stayed at the table for twenty five minutes. I sat down and had a coffee. That has never happened. She asks for them now by pointing at the bucket.

  • I bought a cheap set of twist crayons off Amazon in February and half of them were basically empty when you wound them all the way up. These have way more crayon in the barrel and you can feel it, they are heavier. Three months of near daily use and we are maybe a third of the way down the reds.
